9 month checkup

This morning was Carter's 9 month checkup.  Our little man is getting taller and thinner.  He grew 2 inches from his 6 month checkup.   His height is 29 1/4" long, placing him in the 90% on height.  He weighs 21lbs 13 oz, placing him in the 80% on weight.  His head circumference is 18 1/2",  placing him in the 92%.  Carter didn't have any scheduled shots for today but we elected to get him the flu shot so we had to have one.  Carter was such a trooper.  He didn't cry - which means mommy didn't cry :-)

I am also excited to report, Tim took Carter to see Dr. Muzaffar, yesterday.  Dr. Muzaffar is the plastic surgeon who determined that Carter would need his helmet.  But as of yesterday, it is official, Carter is DONE with his helmet!!!

Lunch with McKenzie

Last Friday I went to eat lunch with McKenzie at school.  She requested McDonald's so I ran by and got her a happy meal and took it to her.  After lunch she went out to recess where I got to play with her and her friends.

McKenzie lined up with her hands behind her waiting patiently to go to recess.  Mrs. Floyd, her teacher, waits for all the kids to get in line and be quiet before they head out.

Ms. Morgan's baby shower

This weekend I helped give my good friend Morgan a baby shower. She and Chris are expecting a little girl on or around November 27th. She has only told a few of us her baby's name so I will have to update that at a later date.

Morgan received a lot of great gifts.

Morgan and her cake

Diana, the lady who makes all our cakes, made the cake and my babysitter made the pregnant lady for the top, out of modeling clay. They are both so talented.

Tongue tied

Carter is very impressed with his tongue. He chews on and plays with it all the time. Daddy and him like to take turns sticking their tongues out at each other. I laugh so hard at my crazy boys!

Kansas City Renaissance Festival

This weekend we were entertained at the KC Renaissance festival. We talked to some very interesting characters, ate some great food, rode rides, watched several shows and took in the experiences of the 1500s to early 1600s.

Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your hair.

Carter Man was excited to go to the Renaissance festival also.

The jousting competition.

Keke was not real sure of the snakes, but she did pet them after a little persuasion.

This guy was in the parade blowing fire. The parade walked through the streets at the festival.

Tim and Carter hanging out in the shade. It was so hot.

The rides were McKenzie's favorite part of the day. They were all powered by man power. If you look close you can see the three men in the middle pushing the swings.

Tim and McKenzie rode this one. They wound them up and let them go. The ropes had to unwind and then would wind up the other way, doing this several times.

I rode the barrel ride with keke. I was queasy the rest of the day. :-)

Happy Birthday dad!

Adventure Club Open house

McKenzie goes to Adventure Club every morning and afternoon. It is a program put on by the University where they provide care for the kids at each of the schools in town before and after school. Tonight was their annual open house, at their main office, for all the students enrolled in their program. While we were there they provided dinner, crafts, a bounce house, raffles, games for the kids, a dunk booth, and a huge dragon the kids could climb through. McKenzie had a great time playing with some of her friends, while Carter and I hung out in the shade.

McKenzie throwing a ball at the dunk booth. She was able to dunk the guy on her third throw.

The huge dragon was the favorite.

McKenzie would climb up his mouth and then could play inside. There were slides and a tunnel inside.

McKenzie went in through his mouth and of course came out the other end! :-D

snip snip

We had to get our hair cut again because.......

Every Friday, McKenzie brings home a Friday folder with an update from her teacher on what they have accomplished during the week, any future events, any permission slips, etc. This week, McKenzie's Friday folder also accompanied a small ziplock bag with a short note from her teacher. The note read.....

When I took the ziplock bag out, McKenzie cried and cried. Her only punishment was she had to tell Daddy, which made her cry even harder. :-D

Carter's First play date

This afternoon we met, my friend, Julie and her son Dylan for a play date at the library. Julie also invited one of her friends and little girl, Zoe. The kids had a good time playing and we had a good time talking. Poor McKenzie wanted a little more attention, but it didn't take her long to find a friend and they were off to have a great time.

Carter can handle his own!!!

While we were there McKenzie got her very own library card.

Look'n Good!

Carter got his first haircut Sunday. I held his head and arms so he wouldn't move while mom trimmed his hair. She trimmed the hair over his ears and on his neck. Carter didn't enjoy the hair cut much but he sure was handsome when it was done.

Poor little guy didn't know what we were doing.
