Choir

McKenzie is in the fourth and fifth grade choir at school.  They practice every Tuesday morning at 7AM throughout the school year.  I wasn't sure she would still be into it once the new wore off but she reminds me every Monday night that she has choir in the morning and we have to get up early.  I am proud that she has taken on this responsibility. 

 

Their first performance was at the Stallion Stampede, their school carnival.  I am always amazed when a teacher can get a group this size to all sing the same thing, at the same time while doing actions and sound good doing it.

Breakfast in bed

I wish I had taken pictures of all the times McKenzie has made me breakfast in bed.  The first time she did it I was pregnant with Carter, so she was 4.  She served me a bowl of cereal (which was actually a bowl of milk with about 15 pieces of cereal floating on top).  She was so proud of herself and it made my day week.  She is such a sweet little girl.  This is my breakfast in bed from this past weekend, oatmeal and strawberries.



Designed for life

 What an amazing weekend.  Mom and I went to the Designed For Life womens conference with my church.
(it is hard to tell in the picture but it is confetti - billions and billions of tiny pieces of tissue paper)

We were able to listen to some amazing women speakers and were pampered the entire weekend.

Over 7,000 women from 23 differnet states attended the conference.

New toy box

Shelly gave me this little gem.  It took me awhile to find the time to give it a facelift but when Carter kept asking for it, I decided it was time to make it a priority and get it done.  It is now in use and he loves it.

I had planned to paint it red so it would go nicely with Carter's navy blue bed with navy and red plaid comforter.  But Carter thought it would look better yellow.  It doesn't match like I would like but he is happy so it is a success.

Visit to Jeff City

I got to accompany McKenzie's class to the Governor's mansion and State Capitol this week.

It was a very wet morning but the kids didn't mind.  This fountain is in front of the Governor's mansion.

The house of Representative's floor

I am friends with House of Represenatives Caleb Rowden.  I spoke to him last weekend and asked if he could talk to our group when we visited.  He was going to be in Branson, but he said he would ask his assistant to take us up in the dome to the whisper room and to the roof.  We didn't get to go on the roof because of the rain but being up in the dome was amazing.

To get to the whisper room we had to go behind locked doors and walk up a flight of stairs between the exterior dome and the interior dome.  This is what it looked like going to the top, several of the kids were scared.
