Face first

Shyla and I went for a walk tonight at the park.  I was pushing Carter in the stroller when he decided he wanted to get out.  As Carter scooted to the front of the stroller, I stopped but it was to late, he went face first into the concrete.  It is hard to see in this picture but the red mark on the left side of his forehead is road rash.  His hands and knee took a beating also.  He cried for a few seconds and then was ready to run with McKenzie.  He truly is the toughest kid I know.

lots of laughs this weekend

Shelly and Henry came in this weekend for a visit.  We spent most of the day Saturday at mom and dads.  The weather was so nice Grandad got out the Ranger for us to play on.

John gives way better rides than I do.  I don't want to know, where all they went or how fast he drove. :-)

McKenzie had a great time driving.

Look who came to see me.  He is such a handsome little guy.  He was all smiles this weekend.

Tim had to try it

There were tons of pictures on FB of people standing their brooms on end.  I think it got the best of Tim so he had to try it.  I have not really researched the how/why.  I saw something about solar flares and something else about the spring equinox.  It stood there until Carter got to close. :)

I am a great student because...

At McKenzie's school they try to put the kids in charge of their own learning and that includes conducting their own parent teacher conferences.  McKenzie presented her progress showing me different homework pages, tests and writings she had completed since the beginning of the year.  Along with her progress, we also reviewed her areas of improvement...you may not believe this, but McKenzie seems to be very out going and needs to work on staying in her seat and not bothering her peers.  If that is the worst thing we need to work on, I have to say I am pretty happy with that.

Tim was unable to make it to conferences because he was at school in St Louis but McKenzie was able to present all the information to him when we got home.

A fun visit to St Louis

A few weekends ago we went to St Louis to visit Shelly, Joe and Henry.

McKenzie and Carter both wanted to hold Henry all weekend.

The three of them could destroy an area faster than Shelly and I, togehter, could keep it picked up.

What cuties

Shelly always has lots of fun projects when we visit.  We used Joe's old speaker boxes to make tunnels through the living room.  The kids loved crawling through and laying in them.

We made butter out of whipping cream.  The kids shook their creme for a few minutes and then it was up to Shelly and I to shake it until it turned to butter.  I had never made butter, it was very interesting to see it change.

Butter

Shelly had an antique butter mold that we filled and put in the refrigerator.  The butter was so good.  We ate it on some of Shelly's homemade poppy seed bread - my favorite.

Carter saw Henry's crib and wanted to take his nap in it.  Aunt Shelly is nicer than I am and let him sleep in there.  He climbed in and went to sleep.  He was so happy.

We were all amazed at how big Henry has gotten and how much he is growing up.  It won't be long until he is completely mobile.

Saturday night we went to eat Pizza at the local pizza place we usually visit when we are there.  The kids love to watch them throw the pizza crust up in the air and they throw flour at the window

Poor McKenzie got to feeling pretty bad on Sunday before we came home.

Carter loved playing with Henry
