A layer of paint can fix almost anything

I have painted all kinds of furniture in my house; dressers, book case, tables, you name it.  Here are two little projects I completed this past weekend.

I found this lovely little frame in a 2nd hand store.  I loved how much character it had.

I have been looking everywhere for a lamp and I couldn't find exactly what I had in mind so I went to Goodwill and found this beauty (ok maybe not but it had potential)

The finished products.  I still have to get just the right lamp shade for my new lamp but I love how the base turned out.

Weekend fun

Last weekend Tim and John went on their annual float trip to Huzzah Valley.  They left Friday around noon and camped, floated and just hung out at the river for the weekend.  There were only 3 guys that were able to make it this year.  While they were there they meet several of my coworkers also camping (yes that is kind of scary:-) but one of the guys, I work with, is going to burn me a CD of his pictures.   Maybe I can post a few when I get them.
While Tim was floating the kids and I hung out up North.  Friday night we spent the night at mom and dad's.  Dad built a camp fire and we roasted hot dogs and made smores.

McKenzie picking black berries, she ate them almost as fast as she picked them.

Saturday morning there was a parade in town.  McKenzie was so excited about all the candy she got.  Carter on the other hand was pretty content just hugging up to Grandma.

waiting for the parade to start

After the parade we spent some time at Grandma's visiting and playing - below McKenzie tracing me with sidewalk chalk.

coloring at Grandma lou's - notice the blue color box.  That was my color box when I was in Kindergarten.  I was telling McKenzie that and she said, "is that what they looked like in the old days".  I could only reply with, "yes, yes they did".  Mom about fell out of her chair laughing.

Sunday, after lunch, Grandma was out playing ball with McKenzie.  I remember when I was little and Grandma would always play ball with us, back then she would even run the bases.

This weekend I also talked Dad into going antique shopping with me.  This was the only piece I really liked but I think I have talked myself out of it.

Happy Father's Day, Tim

Father's day weekend was a good one.  Saturday night we took Tim to eat at five guys.  Shyla came with us to help Tim celebrate.  Carter fell in love with Shyla.  He wanted to set on her lap or be held by her the whole time.  He even cried with Tim took him from her to put him in his car seat.

She even rode in the back seat of the truck next to the kids - what a good sport she is.

After dinner Shyla, Michelle and I went to see Tony Lucero at the Vu.  He is a comic hypnotist and we went to the hypnotic erotic show.  All I can say is OMG, we laughed so hard.

All in the family

Tim's family had a reunion this weekend in KC.  It was Tim's grandma's siblings and all of their families.  It was so nice to get to see everyone again.

Below is Tim's grandma and grandpa with their immediate family.  Grandpa Pete and Grandma Mertie are in the center row, 3rd and 4th from the left.

The girls had a great time in the bounce house

Party time

McKenzie was invited to Jude's birthday party.  Jude is a friend of McKenzie's from school.  Last night after I picked up the kids we headed to the park for a night of playing on the playground equipment, dinner, gifts and last but not least cake and ice cream.

McKenzie swinging in the baby swings with Carter.

climbing the huge rock is McKenzie's favorite thing to do at the park.

Carter thought he was part of the group, setting up there like a big man

I didn't get a picture of them setting together but McKenzie found a new friend at the party.  She asked Jude's older brother if he wanted to go play on the play ground with her.  His brother is 18:)  he is the guy in blue setting next to McKenzie.

Showering baby Henry

This weekend mom and I hosted a baby shower for Shelly.  She had a great turn out and was given some amazing gifts.  We were so glad we got to help shower her at this fun time but also that we got to see and visit so many friends and family members.

Shelly's cake - it says "Boy oh boy"

After the shower we met up with the guys for a weenie roast at mom and dads.  There is something about setting back and listening to the fire crackle and watching the flames flicker.

We are all ready for the cicadas to go away but Shelly really was this weekend.  Since McKenzie loves them and Shelly HATES them, you add that and the fact that Tim and John are ornery = trouble.

The B I B L E, yes that's the book for me...

Sunday was promotion sunday at mom's church (my childhood church)  McKenzie spent the night at mom and dad's so she went to their church with them on Sunday morning.  When you go into the first grade at Perche, they present you with a Bible.

Cole, the preacher, giving McKenzie her Bible.

So loved!

McKenzie and Carter are always remembered by Nana and Bruce and my parents when they go on a trip.  This is their most recent gifts from Nana and Bruce's trip to Disney World.  They were just to cute not to share.

McKenzie in her minnie dress.

look how cute the back of his shirt is.

On your mark...

This afternoon I helped out at field day at McKenzie's school.  They rotated between 8 different stations including; bean bag toss, water races, sack races, playing with the parachute, spoon race, and several others.  I loved getting to watch McKenzie interact with all of her friends.  As she counts down the last two days of school it is bittersweet that she is almost in 1st grade.

spoon relay - there is a piece of candy in the spoon that she got to eat once she finished her turn.

It was so hot out they gave all the kids popsicles.

sack races.
