A day on the farm

A few weeks ago we went to Marty's farm.  He was combining soy beans and let us ride with him.  The kids also climbed up and checked out his truck.

After making a few trips up and down the field, Marty would pull up next to the semi and unload the beans so they could take them to the elevator. 

I loved hanging out with the boys (Carter and Henry) and getting to talk to Devon, Dad and Shelly while waiting for our turn to ride.

Shelly and Henry taking a turn.  Shelly got in and told Marty to tell her everything he knew about farming.  Ha.  I know Marty was as entertained by our company as we were with the experience.

That night there was a beautiful sunset. 

Marty is very much an international man.  He says, "If it ain't red, leave it in the shed". Ha!

Homecoming weekend

Homecoming weekend Megan, John's girlfriend, and her little girl Lilly, McKenzie, Carter and I decided we would adventure out to the 7am parade.  Lilly asked Megan, why the parade was in the middle of the night (so cute).  It was so early, dark and cold at 6:30 am, when we were finding our perfect spot to watch the parade.

You can't really read it in the photo but this is Caleb Rowden's campaign bus.  Caleb was running for, and has since won, State Representative of the 44th district.  Caleb use to be the music director at our church.  He was amazing and we hated when they announced he was leaving, but I am excited for his new adventure.  Caleb always goes big in everything he does and his campaign was no different.  I know he got Carter's attention. :)  Carter would not look away when he drove by.

My favorite part of the parade is all the sorority and fraternity floats.  They always amaze me how creative and well done they are.

We warmed up after the parade and took a long nap.  Later that after noon, we took the kids to the corn maze.  This was the first time we had been to the maze.  It was so much fun weaving through the corn paths.  It was also nice that the kids could have some freedom to run.  That is not always the case when you do something in a public area.

Halloween 2012

This year for Halloween we trick or treated around our neighborhood.  Mom and Dad came over and had dinner and then Mom and I took the kids out.  The boys were suppose to turn the light on and hand out candy but they settled in watching TV and talking instead.  

McKenzie was a beautiful witch.  

and Carter a skeleton.  Poor Carter was pretty scared of his costume at first.  We had to work on it for a week prior to Halloween to get him to the point where he would wear it. 

The weekend before Halloween we were at Grandma Lou's and got the kids all in there costumes so everyone could see them dressed up.

Leading up to Halloween, we carved pumpkins.  Well, we carved McKenzie's and let Carter color his.

They both liked playing with the pumpkin seeds.
