Future leader

This morning, Tim and I went to an assembly at Shepard Blvd Elementary school where McKenzie received an award for showing responsibility.  The assembly was completely put on by the students grades K-5th.  The school has developed all their studies around, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, from Stephen Covey.   In doing so they have empowered the kids to be true leaders.  It was a lot of fun to watch the kids and witness what they really are able to accomplish.

Our invitation to the assembly

The school invited 4 business professionals from around town to hand out the awards/pencils to the students.  One of the 4 adult guests was McKenzie's Sunday School teacher (the lady in the green sweater).  McKenzie was so excited to see her at school, she gave her a huge hug when she walked on stage.

basketball night

Tonight, McKenzie and I met our good friends Megan and Dalton at the Columbia College vs. Hannibal LaGrange game.  Since both schools are my alma mater, I go to this game every year.  I always cheer for HLG, since that is where I played, but I am thinking I need to rethink that decision.  Columbia handed it to them with a 97 to 71 win over Hannibal.  One of these years the Trojans (HLG) are going to whoop-up on 'em - I am keeping the faith.

I showed McKenzie a picture of me from College in my uniform.  When I asked if it looked like me, she said, "well you still have curly hair"  LOL!

A person's a person, no matter how small!

We helped Carter celebrate his birthday this weekend with a small party for our families.  We celebrated with a Dr. Seuss themed party.  Carter was such a great sport.  He had so much fun playing with his new gifts.  He looked through his new books, he climbed in and out of his new rocking chair 100 time, he even hugged on his new clothes and stuffed toys.   When it came time for cake Carter could not get his fast enough.  Once we got him in his chair and his cake in front of him he was not able break it apart with his hands to get a bite, so he went in face first.  It was a very relaxing afternoon with a lot of laughs and great conversation.

Everyone wrote a personal note for Carter in his Happy Birthday to you, by Dr. Seuss, book.

Carter loved his cake (But then again, everyone loves Diana's cakes)

12 month check up

Carter had his 12 month check up this morning.  He measured in at: 31 1/2 inches putting him at 95% on height.  He weighs 23lbs 6 oz putting him at 70% on weight, and his head circumference is 19 7/8 inches putting him at 92%.  Everything looked good this week.  We are still fighting the dry skin so Dr. Stuebben wrote him a prescription for a stronger cream, lets hope it helps.  Carter had to have 3 shots today.  I was saved by a phone call and was able to sneak out right as David came back in to give him his shots.  Holding your baby down for a shot is much better handled by a dad (at least that is what I think).
