Sleepover

McKenzie didn't have school Monday due to a teacher work day.  We decided it would be fun to have a sleepover on Sunday night and let the girls stay all day Monday while their parents worked.

The girls took over the living room.  They made it to bed around 2am.

They had a mani pedi session in the kitchen.

played with their American Girl dolls and the Wii

Then to the park for a picnic lunch and to play.

These three sure have a good time.

The weather was absolutely perfect.

Then we went to watch Dolphin Tale 2.
They thought they were big stuff when I didn't sit with them.

Followed by a few arcade games at the theater before we called it a day.

I bet they all slept good Monday night.  I know McKenzie did.  She was out by 7:30pm.

Walk back in time.

This weekend the kids and I went with Mom and Dad to a walk back in time.  This is a history timeline including Vikings in America, Pirates, 1750s French and Indian war, 1770s Colonial, 1830s Mountain men, 1860 Pony Express, 1860s Civil War, Native American, 1880s Wild West, 1918 WWI, 1940s WWII, USMC Vietnam, and 2014 Military exhibits.

The kids loved it.

McKenzie with two of the cowboy era reenactors.

McKenzie checking out the jail.

Carter was to short to see out the bars in the jail but that didn't stop him.

The indian section the kids got to go in a teepee.  When the reenactors put on these events they stay in their period housing with period clothing and cook like they would have in that period as much as possible.

Writing with a real ink and quill pen.

boy is that ink messy.

McKenzie and Carter working together to make a rope.

Making a little apple butter.
What a way to make history come to life.

Soccer

This fall McKenzie and I are getting a lot of mother/daughter time on the soccer field.  She signed up to play and they needed an assistant coach...so why not.  I knew very little about soccer but with lots of reading, watching YouTube videos and trial & error we are learning together.

fun with friends

Last weekend I went to see a friend of mine from work and took the kids with me.  DeeAnn, my friend, has a 15 year old son who likes to ride dirt bikes.
Carter calls him the motercycle boy.

Brandon, AKA the motercycle boy, played and sang for us.  He was really good and all self taught.

Brandon bought Carter a new fishing pole.  We went to the local lake to try it out.

McKenzie trying to show him how it's done.

And a little skateboarding to wrap up the day.

First day of school

The kids started back to school August 19th.  McKenzie in 4th grade and Carter moved from his in home daycare to preschool.

I love his fun personality. He doesn't let everyone see this side of him.

McKenzie is such a sweetheart.  She has really matured over the past few years and is such a big help around the house and takes such good care of her brother.

Carter trying to take a serious picture for me.

My big girl - It was raining, McKenzie wasn't thrilled I made her take our annual picture in front of the school.

Disney

This summer Cathy took us to Disney for a week.   As we planned and anticipated the trip it felt as if it would never get here but on the morning of May 18th we had a 4am wake up call.  It was here!  We all got dressed and headed to the airport to catch our 6:30am flight to begin making some amazing memories.

Our pool at the resort and the view from our room.  It was beautiful.

Look how cute he is?  The kids all loved the rides.

The big kids enjoyed the rides as much as the kids.

Lunch at the Sci-Fi drive in.  Our table was an old car parked at the local drive in where we watched black and white moves on the big screen.  (We ate at many wonderful places this week.)

A little fun with Mickey.

Mid week the girls got to have breakfast with Cinderalla in her royal castle.

It doesn't get more magical than this.

We stayed at the Boardwalk Resort

It was absolutely stunning at night to walk down the boardwalk.

Character greetings

We even found Tinker bell.

Watch out Carter Man is driving.

Carter really wanted to see Lightning McQueen.

Great looking family.

What a wonderful trip, we had such a great time getting to spend quality time together and making memories that will last a life time.
